AUDITIONS: NYMF Concert Series Seeking Actors of Color

The New York Musical Theater Festival’s Student Leadership Program is seeking diverse voices, versatile actors, and multitalented musicians for their two-part concert series exploring stripped down sound and new sounds of musical theatre: “Grass Roots” and “Trailblazers” The concert series will be a part of NYMF this summer, and they reached out to us to help them find their cast! Read on for more details, and don’t forget to mention you heard of the auditions through Arts in Color!

GRASSROOTS is a night about stripped down sound and its ability to tell a story. Presenting pieces with a primarily acoustic, folksy, and minimalist feel, we return to an organic form of musical storytelling. GRASSROOTS will be presented on Thursday, July 10 at 7:00 pm and Friday, July 11 at 7:00 pm.
TRAILBLAZERS is a celebration of the new sounds of musical theatre. Just as The Lisps brought their indie rock band to The Good Person of Szechwan and Dave Malloy created an electronica opera with The Great Comet of 1812, Trailblazers will push the boundaries of convention. TRAILBLAZERS will be presented on Tuesday, July 15 at 7:00 pm and Wednesday, July 16 at 9:00 pm.  Performances will be held at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on 42nd St.
